Do you know your company’s ESG ratings?

Per our current blog about the importance of achieving best practices in ESG disclosure, the ESG performance of your company can be independently rated by CDP, ISS, MSCI and RobecoSAM (S&P), among others. Because their ratings have a direct bearing on your company’s cost of capital and investor engagement, it is crucial to know your rating and the research behind it.

If you do not know if your company is currently rated, inquire with your company’s sustainability officer, as they would be contacted by ESG rating firms as part of the due diligence, verification and comment process. If your company does not have a sustainability officer or equivalent role, we have provided below individual links and email addresses where you can submit an information request to the ratings firms.

It is important to note that even if your company does not publish a sustainability report and/or ESG metrics, it might still be rated by one or more of the ratings firms. As these firms typically rely on public data from a variety of sources for their analysis, this means your company could be assigned ratings that do not reflect actual performance but are used by investors nevertheless. Hence the importance of robust ESG disclosure.

If you do not currently have an ESG strategy nor disclose according to global reporting standards, we encourage you to read our ESG blog, which can be found on the landing page of our website inspirgroup.com. Also, we are available to discuss InspIR’s portfolio of advisory services that can help your company achieve best-practice ESG disclosure and, importantly, effectively integrate it into your investment thesis and investor communications.
