Monique has more than 25 years of capital markets expertise and 15+ years leading IR firms partnering with many of the most iconic companies in the Americas. She has a well-established reputation as the region’s authority in strategic IR for companies operating in highly dynamic environments, collaborating closely with clients to drive industry-leading standards in investor relations and sustainability communications. Her practice includes strategically positioning material results and information, advising on access to new sources of capital, navigating investor activism challenges and guiding companies through IPO processes. Monique led the IR advisory team on Nubank’s $52 Billion dual listing on the New York and Brazilian stock exchanges in 2021. She advocates for transparency and best practices through education initiatives for issuers and boards.
Monique has served as a VP of Corporate Affairs at AOL where she oversaw investor relations, comms, and public affairs teams for its LatAm platform. As CFO and COO of Melia’s Americas hotel group, she managed financial performance, led financing strategies for M&A and development, and coordinated the company’s public listing on the Spanish stock exchange. At Fox Television, Monique spearheaded partnership development and business planning for Latin America’s first DTH satellite system as VP of Business Development. Her career began in corporate and investment banking with the IFC and James D. Wolfensohn, Inc.
Monique has been an Executive Board Director of the Wharton School of Business and spent seven years as a Director of Pro Mujer, a microfinance organization in Latin America. She was named a Woman of Influence in New York City and one of the Most Powerful Women in Latin American Internet. Monique was also a Director of the Council of the Americas. She received a BA in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from the Wharton School of Business. She is fluent in Spanish and conversational in Portuguese.
